Invitation to the public

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Just wanted to invite anyone to submit any sort of information regarding any community event on this section of MullinsMania.com.  I’d like to provide a forum for individuals to preview, review, or announce an event that they think other people will find interesting.  Just send me a short article and/or pictures of/for the event if you like to bryan@mullinsmania.com, and I will post them under a seperate entry, within reason.  I will not take credit.  I will either credit the author or leave it anonymous if you wish.

Also, anyone feel free to comment on any of the previous entries (or future entries) that you see. Just trying to tighten up the circle of information so nobody misses out on any culture in our fair city of Rome.  Thanks.

5th of July Sidewalk Sale

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

It wasn’t the best of turnouts for the July 5th Sidewalk Sale in Downtown Rome, but it was fun, nonetheless. Roger Wade was kind enough to invite Scott Awesome and I to play some sidewalk sountrack music in front of The Mattress Direct / Kid’s Loft while they gave away free hot dogs. That’s always fun because you run into all kinds of folks you wouldn’t have any reason to talk to otherwise. Kid’s like it the most. One guy said something to that fact that we supplied him with his first smile of the day. It felt especially cool because I know Russell McClanahan and Stranger Malone had played there in the past. Not trying to imply that we can fill those shoes, but it was still neat.
There weren’t very many stores involved either. Schroeder’s had a smorgasbord of random stuff for sale, as did Mattress Direct and Poor Man’s Pawn. I guess a lot of store owners were cokking out for the 4th somewhere. It was a great time, though. Thanks Roger.

The kids always love the sidewalk tunes.
