Nic Cowan- Wrong Side

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Here’s a little sample of Nic Cowan who is playing at 333 on Broad with his band on Friday. He’s been on the up and up lately and you probably don’t want to miss this guy. Heck, this video is just hanging out around Merlefest this past year.

THURSDAY

Russell McClanahan and the mOOn Crew will continue their weekly gig in the Harvest Moon dining room, which has become one of downtown Rome’s favorite new traditions. They play that old time string band music that has been popular in this area for centuries.

Jon Byrd also plays a dinner show on Thursdays at 333 on Broad. One of Rome’s favorite singer/songwriters, Byrd plays a wide variety of acoustic music making a perfect backdrop to kick back and unwind from the first week of the year.lecture-blog.jpg

The 400 Block Bar will host Muletide Perkins for their service industry night. Off-kilter country blues originals, high jinks and good ol’ fashioned camaraderie is in store.

FRIDAY

333 on Broad kicks off the first weekend of 2011 with the John Lee Hookers, Clay Broome’s most recent project celebrating the many styles of early blues music with a twist of rockabilly thunder. Boredom is not an option when these guys come to town.

Scott Warren has been an integral part of the backbone of Rome’s music scene for years. His talent on the guitar and booming vocals is unquestionably solid and exciting. Catching him with his recent band, the Booze Mountaineers, is something to look forward to. They’ll be at the 400 Block on Friday.

Muletide Perkins returns to the Moon Roof Bar to bang on his guitar and have some fun with the flaps down and the heat one. That is one cozy room in December and Muletide is looking forward to it very much.

SATURDAY

Nic Cowan is on the up and up big time! He’s been playing all over the place and being on Zac Brown’s Southern Ground record label doesn’t hurt. Opening up for ZBB on New Year’s Eve probably didn’t hurt much, either. Catch the up and coming star Saturday night as he returns to 333 on Broad and see why he has earned all the buzz.

David Bell is another artist who has really helped hold the music scene together in times where it was just barely hanging on. One half of Thunderbolt Patterson, Bell has a vast arsenal of original material and deep covers, an unreal passion for song writing, and the skills to make it all sound great. He will perform Saturday night at the 400 Block Bar.

Scott Warren will be taking the Booze Mountaineers to DJ’s Tavern on John Davenport for another night of country rock & soulful Southern blues. The folks over there know how to appreciate good honest tunes and Warren knows how to deliver them.
